Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trent Lane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mat First (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mat First will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trent Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mat First!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Lane throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
First throws a combination that misses

and Lane counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for First!

Lane tries for a kimura but First is defending well.
First is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lane trying to control the action but First is working from the bottom.
The ground and pound from Lane seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Lane remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lane tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
First is looking for a sweep.

Lane controls the position.

Lane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by First, who protects the arm well.
First trying to remain calm as Lane controls from the top position.
Lane prevents First from escaping the position.
Lane works to advance to full mount. First defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
First really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
First holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lane tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lane throws some wild stikes that First manages to avoid easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lane controlling the pace for now.

Lane looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
First has given up his back here. Will Lane look for the submission or keep pounding away?

First is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lane gets his way!

First covering up well and avoiding damage.
Lane just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Lane tries to get the hooks in deep but First pushed the leg off.
First trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Lane scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. First is looking for a way out.

Lane is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Lane has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for First! Can he survive? No! He's out! Lane gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
