Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mat Second! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Buck Joe! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe throws a body shot but no joy. Second connects with a leg kick. Joe looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Joe misses with a wild combination.
Joe misses with a series of wild punches.
Second fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Joe has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Joe looks to land a combination but Second avoids it well. Joe takes a kick to the side of the head. Joe looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Second throwing a counter right hand but Joe manages to avoid it. Second tries to bum rush Joe with a series of wild strikes but Joe uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Joe pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Second back to the cage. Joe follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A big left from Second misses. Joe connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Second tries a head kick but it misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Joe lands an impressive looking overhand right. Second doesn't seem phased though. Second really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Second avoids a punch combination nicely.

Second lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Second throws a body shot but no joy. Second misses with a shot to the body and Joe counters with a series of strikes. Joe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Second circles away quickly and effectively. Joe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Second counters into the clinch. Nicely done. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Knees to the body from Second.

Joe tries to work over Second's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Joe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Second has him pressed against the cage. Second creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Second lands an elbow inside. The referee is keeping an eye on Second - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Joe is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. A combination from Joe does no damage. Joe throws a right and a left that Second avoids nicely. Buck Joe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Second misses with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Second throws a head kick that half lands.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Second here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Second throws a head kick but Joe moves out of range.

Joe throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Second on the side of the head. Joe misses with a straight left. Second takes a swing at Joe's ribcage but misses. Joe fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Joe throws a low kick but Second moves out of range easily. Joe misses with a low kick as Second jumps back. Joe scores with a hook to the body. Second takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Joe misses with the combination.
Second fires out a quick counter leg kick but Joe just manages to avoid it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Joe is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joe throws a nice looking combination but Second bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Second wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Both fighters circling a little - Second finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Second is looking to wear down Joe with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Nice defenses there by Joe. Joe throws a head kick but Second moves out of range.

Second will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Joe up against the cage. Second misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Joe.
