Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Psycho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Tonon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Tonon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Psycho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Tonon!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Psycho rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tonon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Psycho looks for a takedown but Tonon sprawls well.
Tonon follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Psycho fails with the takedown.
Tonon misses with an attempted mid kick.
Psycho tests Tonon's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Psycho misses with a two punch combination.
A big left from Psycho misses.
Tonon counters with a body kick.
Psycho changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tonon tries to avoid it but Psycho manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tonon to the ground. Tonon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Psycho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Psycho scores with a punch to the head.
Luke Psycho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Psycho changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Tonon slips a straight right by Psycho.
Psycho moves into range and connects with a jab.

and Tonon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Psycho fails with the takedown.
It seemed like Tonon was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Psycho has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) in the buildup to the fight.

Tonon lands a jab.
Tonon misses with a low kick as Psycho jumps back.
Psycho takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Psycho shoots in for a double leg but Tonon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tonon looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Psycho shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tonon is trying to defend but Psycho finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Psycho seems to be looking for submissions.

Psycho postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tonon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Psycho, into his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Psycho throws his legs up looking for a submission but Tonon uses it to pass to side control.
Psycho is looking to reverse the position.
Tonon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tonon lands a few punches from side control.
Tonon tries to advance to mount but Psycho denies him.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Tonon working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Tonon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Psycho down.

Tonon slips a nice elbow through Psycho's hands, connecting with Psycho's forehead.

Psycho looking for a guillotine here but Tonon defends easily.
Tonon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Psycho's head.

Psycho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tonon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Psycho tries to buck Tonon off but Tonon is having none of it.
Check out the look on Tonon's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Psycho stops Tonon from passing to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Psycho tries to buck Tonon off but Tonon is having none of it.
Tonon content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Tonon lands a few punches from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Tonon dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Tonon stuffs the takedown attempt from Psycho. Psycho gets slowly back to his feet.
Tonon misses with a wild body shot.
Tonon tries to land a front kick but Psycho steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Horrible takedown attempt by Psycho or perhaps it was just good defense by Tonon, which made it look bad.
Tonon misses the shot to the body.
Tonon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Psycho throws out the jab.

Psycho half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Tonon throws a wild body kick that Psycho sees coming a mile off.

Psycho uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tonon.
Psycho feinted with a counter takedown.
A telegraphed right hand from Tonon misses the target.
Psycho misses the shot to the body.
Tonon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Psycho.

and Tonon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Psycho thinking.
Tonon swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Psycho.
Psycho is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Psycho walks into a left hand.
Tonon's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Psycho connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Tonon scrambles back to his feet.

Psycho moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


Psycho is rocked!
Tonon walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Psycho drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Tonon swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Psycho's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gary Tonon!
