PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leonel Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arlen McMarson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McMarson has chosen Dance Gavin Dance - Robot with Human Hair as his entrance music. Leonel Cox is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arlen McMarson!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMarson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cox tries to avoid it but McMarson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cox to the ground. Cox escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McMarson closes the distance and pushes Cox back into the cage.
McMarson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
McMarson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cox fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McMarson tries for a takedown but Cox sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Leonel Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arlen McMarson.
McMarson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cox was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
McMarson shoots in but no luck this time.
Cox went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McMarson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cox's half guard.

Cox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

McMarson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
McMarson is working Cox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

McMarson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cox swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McMarson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McMarson is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cox holds on and takes a little breather.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McMarson in particular looking to stall.

Let's hope that McMarson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cox is looking for a sweep. McMarson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McMarson is looking to take a break and control but Cox is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cox looks for a takedown but McMarson sprawls well.
Arlen McMarson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

and McMarson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McMarson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cox is fending him off so far but McMarson persists. Nope, Cox circles away and we're back to standing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
