Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Superior Nucleus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Minor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nucleus might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tupac - Hit 'Em Up. Superior Nucleus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

11 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Superior Nucleus! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerald Minor! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Minor misses with a wild body shot. Minor stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Nucleus. Nucleus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Minor manages to avoid it. Minor misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nucleus.
Minor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nucleus takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nucleus takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Nucleus looks to land a body kick but Minor moved away. Minor throws a head kick that misses. Nucleus throwing a counter right hand but Minor manages to avoid it. Nucleus thuds a left hand into Minor's body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nucleus misses with an attempted mid kick.

Minor shoots in looking for a takedown but Nucleus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Minor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Minor throws a looping overhand right but Nucleus ducks down to avoid it. Nucleus throws a quick counter kick to the body but Minor avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minor blocks a head kick by Nucleus.
Minor on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Superior Nucleus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Minor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Minor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Nucleus is not content to let Minor control the position. Minor misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Minor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Minor wants to control but Nucleus is keeping him busy. Nucleus is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Morbid Conditioning, Trans, Esc School $1000, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Minor controlling the position from side mount. Check out the look on Minor's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Nucleus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nucleus parries the strikes from Minor easily there. Minor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nucleus to escape.
Minor tries to score with some ground and pound. Nucleus controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Nucleus tries to buck Minor off but Minor is having none of it. Minor working away. Nucleus tries to bench press Minor off him but Minor keeps the position. Minor is working Nucleus over with some ground and pound from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Minor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nucleus sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Nucleus manages to get back to half guard. Nucleus is defending against the submission attempts here by Minor.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nucleus slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nucleus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Minor is one step ahead there. Nucleus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nucleus has his foot on Minor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Minor works his way back into a safe position though. Nucleus is trying to keep Minor in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Minor wants to control from the top but Nucleus keeps moving. Nucleus is looking for a triangle but Minor pushes his legs off easily.
Minor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Minor is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Nucleus rather than just go for the knockout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Minor tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Minor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nucleus's waist but Nucleus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Minor off to one side. Nucleus throws a quick counter head kick but Minor was just out of range. Minor blocks a head kick by Nucleus.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Minor dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Minor slips under a jab. Minor finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Nucleus was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Minor scores with a three punch combo!
Minor moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Minor misses with the combination.
Minor takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nucleus attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nucleus checks a low kick from Minor. Nucleus takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Minor walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nucleus checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. It looked like Nucleus was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Nucleus cracks a nice hook into Minor's ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nucleus throws a head kick that Minor semi-blocks.
Minor looks to score with a jab to the body but Nucleus is just out of range. Nucleus swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Minor counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gerald Minor has got the better of the ground game so far. Minor avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Minor wants to control from the top but Nucleus keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nucleus is on top in guard.
Minor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Minor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Minor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nucleus controls the pace. Nucleus trying to control but Minor is working from the bottom. Nucleus slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Minor tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nucleus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Minor has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Minor looks to move to half guard but instead Nucleus has passed into mount! Damn! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nucleus sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minor tries to reverse the position but Nucleus maintains control. Nucleus trying to control but Minor is having none of it. Minor is looking to improve his position but Nucleus isn't that keen on the idea. Minor is controlling an arm, preventing Nucleus from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Minor regains half guard. Nucleus is keen to just control but Minor is a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Minor is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nucleus's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nucleus's back! Minor is working the ground and pound. Can Nucleus escape? Nucleus trying to control but not successfully. Nucleus is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Nucleus trying to control but not successfully. Minor wants to control but Nucleus is keeping busy. Nucleus just trying to survive but Minor is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Minor lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Nucleus hold on?!

Gerald Minor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Minor lands a head shot. Minor connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Minor throws a low kick but it's checked well by Nucleus. Nucleus throws a body punch but Minor moves out of range. A low kick from Minor is predictable there and Nucleus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Minor tries to clinch but Nucleus moves out of range. Good leg kick by Nucleus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Nucleus checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Nucleus throws a sloppy head kick and Minor moves out of range easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Minor avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Minor throws a body punch but Nucleus moves out of range. Nucleus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Nucleus throws a push kick but Minor slaps the foot to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. A low kick from Nucleus is predictable there and Minor counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nucleus looks to land a body kick but Minor moved away. Nucleus lands with a shot to the body. Minor attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Minor scores with a punch to the head. Nucleus slips under a jab from Minor. Minor throws a big shot that misses. Nucleus misses the shot to the body. Minor has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Minor throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. It looked like Nucleus was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Nucleus connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Minor's hands. Nucleus throws a head kick but Minor moves out of range.
Nucleus lands a jab to Minor's midsection. Nucleus is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Minor thows a leg kick but Nucleus checks it and Nucleus counters with a slapping leg kick. Nucleus scores with a push kick. Minor pushing out the jab but it's not landing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Minor scores with a jab to the body. Minor avoids the head kick by Nucleus.
Nucleus misses the shot to the body. Minor ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Minor misses with a takedown attempt and Nucleus counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Minor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nucleus moves away. Nucleus throws a body kick that misses. Superior Nucleus is winning the standup battle so far. Nucleus moves away from the strike by Minor.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nucleus misses the shot to the body. Minor misses with a body shot.
Minor takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. A telegraphed right hand from Minor misses the target. Minor swinging wildly here.

Minor slips a jab from Nucleus. Minor connects with a solid leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Minor attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Minor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nucleus quickly recovers to half guard. Nucleus kicks Minor off and gets back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Minor looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Nucleus throws a sloppy head kick and Minor moves out of range easily. A head kick misses from Nucleus. Nucleus throws a wild body kick that Minor sees coming a mile off. Minor throws a jab but it's blocked by Nucleus. Minor takes a swing at Nucleus's ribcage but misses. Minor shoots in looking for a takedown. Nucleus tries to sprawl out of it but Minor keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nucleus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Superior Nucleus clearly takes that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nucleus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nucleus throws a sloppy head kick and Minor moves out of range easily. Minor shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nucleus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Minor preventing the sweep. Minor in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Nucleus working a defensive guard but Minor manages to pass into side control anyway.
Nucleus is looking to regain half guard here but Minor keeps moving and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nucleus is letting Minor control him for a moment. Minor throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nucleus is looking to reverse the position. Nucleus stops Minor from passing to mount. Nucleus is not content to let Minor control the position. Minor working the body and head with strikes. Minor is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Nucleus is trying to escape and Minor transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Nucleus is forced to tap! Nice work there by Minor! Very nice indeed!
