Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mike Fitzpatrick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian McCall! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCall throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fitzpatrick. A combination from McCall does no damage. McCall falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fitzpatrick counters with a single leg into guard. McCall didn't expect that. Fitzpatrick is standing up over McCall. McCall looks to escape but Fitzpatrick dives into side control.
McCall is not content to let Fitzpatrick control the position. Fitzpatrick throws a strike aimed at the side of McCall's head but McCall avoids it well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The strikes coming from Fitzpatrick are missing the target in this wave of attacks. McCall is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fitzpatrick is controlling him well.

Fitzpatrick moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. McCall is pushing Fitzpatrick's head away, looking to escape. Fitzpatrick manages to hold on to the position though. An elbow from Fitzpatrick crashes against the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fitzpatrick thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Fitzpatrick wants to control but McCall is keeping him busy. McCall tries to escape but Fitzpatrick is in control. Fitzpatrick tries to advance to mount but McCall instead regains half guard. McCall is looking to escape.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ian McCall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fitzpatrick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. McCall looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Fitzpatrick is on the wrong end of a nice combination from McCall. McCall lands with a nice combination. Fitzpatrick backs away looking to recover. Fitzpatrick misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Despite the aggression on McCall's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. McCall rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fitzpatrick moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Fitzpatrick tries to clinch there but McCall circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fitzpatrick is trying hard to land a takedown here. McCall sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Fitzpatrick. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCall misses with a two punch combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fitzpatrick has a takedown stuffed. McCall is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Fitzpatrick has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from McCall. Fitzpatrick seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Fitzpatrick darts in looking for a takedown but McCall gets double underhooks and turns Fitzpatrick into the cage. McCall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McCall throws a nice looking combination but Fitzpatrick bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nice takedown defense from McCall. No joy for Fitzpatrick on that attempt. Fitzpatrick tries for a takedown but McCall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ian McCall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fitzpatrick is breathing heavily. McCall misses with a few strikes there.
No luck for Fitzpatrick with that takedown attempt. McCall connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A nice combination there by McCall.

Fitzpatrick closes this distance looking for a takedown but McCall circles away. Danga de danga de dang - McCall scores with a four punch combination! Fitzpatrick tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McCall defends well and Fitzpatrick ends up having to push McCall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. McCall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
