Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guy Hanes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jethro Schmeling!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmeling tries a head kick but it misses.
Schmeling stuffs the takedown attempt from Hanes. Hanes gets slowly back to his feet.
Hanes tries to clinch there but Schmeling circles away.
As Hanes backs off Schmeling throws a huge counter combo but Hanes manages to avoid it all.
Hanes takes the fight into the clinch.
Schmeling's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hanes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Schmeling pinned against the ropes. Schmeling gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hanes takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hanes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Schmeling connects with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schmeling jabs at Hanes's body.
Hanes is breathing heavily.
Hanes takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hanes moves out of range as Schmeling throws a body kick.
Hanes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schmeling cracks the inside of Hanes's front leg.
Hanes on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hanes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Schmeling lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Schmeling fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Schmeling moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Hanes! Schmeling continues to tee off on Hanes, landing with a left and a right! Schmeling connects with a right hand that leaves Hanes sleeping against the ropes! What a finish by Schmeling!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jethro Schmeling!
