Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edwardo Welch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Declan Kort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edwardo Welch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Declan Kort!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kort closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kort has Welch pressed against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Welch.
Welch throws a punch but it's blocked by Kort.
Welch swings wildly with an uppercut but Kort uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kort wants to break free but Welch has control.
Welch controlling the action here for a moment.

Welch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kort misses with a head kick.

Welch gets caught napping as Kort dives in and scores a takedown. Welch manages to retain guard.
Welch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kort trying to control but Welch is working from the bottom.
Kort looking to pass the guard.

Welch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kort is aware though and is defending well.
Kort wants to control from the top but Welch keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kort avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Welch has his foot on Kort's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kort works his way back into a safe position though.
Kort must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kort controls from within his opponent's guard.

Welch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kort trying to control the position from guard on top but Welch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Welch preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kort looking to score a takedown here. Welch is defending well but Kort drives through and ends up in Welch's guard.

Welch looking for subs off his back but Kort has passed one foot through into half guard.
Kort perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kort thows a huge punch but Welch dodges it nicely.
Welch wants to improve his position but Kort is controlling well.
Kort is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Welch is staying active underneath Kort, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kort uses his free foot to push down on Welch's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Welch.
Kort thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Welch is trying to reverse the position but instead Kort has taken his back - oops!
A lull in the action here.

Kort shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kort was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kort is trying to get an arm triangle but Welch is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Welch is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kort's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Kort wants to work for an arm triangle but Welch is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kort looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Welch is trying to control but Kort passes into side control!

Kort tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kort has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kort is looking to take a break and control but Welch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kort decides to stand up, so the ref orders Welch to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Welch enables Kort to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Welch manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Welch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kort defends well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Welch looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kort has picked Welch up and slammed him! Welch can't keep hold of the triangle and Kort manages to pass to side control!
Kort has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Welch tries to improve position but can't.
Kort in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Kort decides to stand up, so the ref orders Welch to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Declan Kort showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Kort fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Welch sprawls well initially but Kort persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Declan Kort seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kort changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Welch looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kort is looking to take a break and control but Welch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Welch can't do much from the bottom here.
Kort throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Kort decides to stand up, so the ref orders Welch to his feet.
Welch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kort as he jumps to the side.

Kort forces Welch back against the cage and clinches.

Kort manages to pull guard.
Kort controls Welch momentarily but Welch frees himself.

Kort had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Welch defends it easily.
Welch throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kort works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kort lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kort wants to pass the guard but Welch is keeping the position.
Kort trying to control but Welch is working from the bottom.

Kort avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Declan Kort comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kort has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
