Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Almedia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Esposito!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almedia misses with a head kick.
Esposito with a poor takedown
and Almedia counters with a nice body shot.
Almedia tries a head kick but it misses.
Esposito dives in and grabs Almedia's left leg, looking for a takedown. Almedia pushes down on Esposito's head and hops out.
Esposito tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Esposito shoots and misses
and Almedia cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jose Almedia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Esposito.
Almedia throws a nice head kick!
Esposito takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Almedia lands a high kick!
Esposito misses with a takedown attempt
and Almedia counters with a straight right hand.
Almedia throws a left that rocks Esposito and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Almedia dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Esposito regain composure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Almedia just content to control the position.
Almedia grinds an elbow into Esposito's temple.

The strikes coming from Almedia are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Esposito being controlled for a moment.
Esposito seems to have recovered his senses.
Almedia creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Esposito sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Esposito is not content to let Almedia control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Esposito throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Almedia in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Almedia is trying to move to mount but Esposito reverses beautifully and ends up in Almedia's guard.

Almedia kicks Esposito off and gets to his feet.
A lazy left from Almedia finds it's target.
Esposito tries to clinch up
and Almedia counters with a stiff right hand.
Esposito shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Almedia as he avoids it easily.
Almedia dodges the punch combination from Esposito.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Esposito has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Esposito there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jose Almedia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Almedia stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Almedia changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Almedia connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Almedia looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pablo Esposito seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Almedia lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Esposito shoots in looking for a takedown but Almedia manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Esposito's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Almedia is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Almedia slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Almedia drops Esposito with a straight right hand, right on the button! Almedia follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Almedia!
In defeat, Pablo Esposito stepped up to the mic, saying 'I would like to thank Dr. Jones for the chance to fight in his promotion and i will come back even stronger, i promise!'.
