Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Santiago Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Aziz Shavershian! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shavershian throws a series of strikes that have Sanchez backpedaling.
That kick from Shavershian tenderised Sanchez's leg. Sanchez is trying to keep his angry face on. Shavershian throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sanchez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Shavershian plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Sanchez with a lazy takedown attempt letting Shavershian counter with a right hand. Sanchez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Shavershian counters with a left and a right that stings Sanchez. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Shavershian tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shavershian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Shavershian tries a quick counter leg kick but Sanchez is wise to it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shavershian cracks Sanchez with a right hand to the side of the head. Shavershian lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shavershian circles away from the clinch attempt and Shavershian counters with a huge head kick that drops Sanchez! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aziz Shavershian!
