2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Sumo! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sumo takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Sumo misses with a takedown attempt and Rudger counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rudger. Rudger lands a nice elbow.
It looks like The Sumo has been cut. Rudger tries a body shot but Sumo blocks it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sumo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Sumo has clasped his hands together around Rudger's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Rudger keeping his opponent close. Rudger tries to improve position but can't. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rudger isn't going anywhere. Sumo in side control lands a decent elbow. Sumo grinds an elbow into Rudger's temple. Sumo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Sumo lands an elbow. Rudger is looking for a sweep. Sumo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Sumo working the body and head with strikes. You can see the frustration on Rudger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rudger takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Sumo cracks Rudger with a big right hand but Rudger just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

He's dropped a big elbow there and Rudger looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Sumo turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Sumo! The Sumo decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little. In defeat, Peyton Rudger stepped up to the mic, saying 'Shit ! '.
