Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lu Hao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernesto Del Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Del Toro's choice of entrance music: Bliss. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Lu Hao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ernesto Del Toro!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Toro throws a hook but Hao avoids it easily.

Hao shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Del Toro's guard.
Hao has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Del Toro lands a couple of elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Del Toro's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hao is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Del Toro won't allow Hao to pass to mount.
Hao seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hao has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Del Toro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Del Toro wants to get back to full guard.
Del Toro felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Hao wants to pass to mount but Del Toro is defending the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Del Toro works his way to full guard. Good work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Del Toro is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hao is aware though and is defending well.
Hao wants to control from the top but Del Toro keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Del Toro cracks Hao with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Hao shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Del Toro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That was a close round but I would say that Lu Hao will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hao throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hao uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Del Toro.
Del Toro takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hao avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Del Toro throws a shot from downtown. Hao moves away and avoids it.
Del Toro keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hao misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Del Toro.
Hao fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Del Toro looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hao shoots in and drives through. Del Toro sprawls well.
Del Toro looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Hao is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hao sizes up Del Toro with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Hao lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Del Toro tries to land a front kick but Hao steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hao closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Del Toro's guard.
Lu Hao overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hao misses with a wild body shot.

Del Toro slaps away a takedown attempt from Hao, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Hao throws a nice looking combination but Del Toro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hao throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Del Toro moves out of range as Hao strikes.
A nice side step and Del Toro releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Del Toro lands an overhand right.
Del Toro throws a wild body kick that Hao sees coming a mile off.
Hao shoots in for a takedown but Del Toro shows good takedown defense.
Del Toro tries to counter by closing the distance.
Hao connects with a right hand. Del Toro shakes it off.
Del Toro throws a front kick aimed at Hao's knee but Hao avoids it well.

Hao throws a hook to the side of Del Toro's head but Del Toro sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Del Toro throws a low kick, looking for Hao's leg but Hao calmly moves out of range.
Hao lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hao fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Del Toro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hao.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hao fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hao throws a big shot that misses.
Del Toro shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Del Toro tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed right hand from Hao misses the target.
Hao swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Del Toro to counter with a crisp jab.
Hao throws a push kick but Del Toro slaps the foot to one side.

Hao scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hao is looking to take a break and control but Del Toro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Del Toro is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lu Hao dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hao throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hao is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Del Toro can do to turn this around?
Del Toro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hao back to the cage. Del Toro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Del Toro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hao. That did some damage!

Hao closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Del Toro quickly recovers to half guard.
Hao is pressing down on Del Toro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Del Toro is holding on for now.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Del Toro tries to roll over but Hao keeps him under control.
Del Toro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hao is working away from the top position though.
Del Toro is pressing down on Hao's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Del Toro wants to sweep but no luck.
Hao wants to pass the guard but Del Toro is keeping the position.
Hao controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Del Toro is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hao has his hands clasped together but Del Toro extends and breaks Hao's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Del Toro.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ernesto Del Toro!
