Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lars Paulsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fafnir Amdahl! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulsson swings widly with a right hand
and Amdahl counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Amdahl. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paulsson is on top in guard.
Paulsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Amdahl is retaining full guard. Amdahl is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paulsson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Amdahl throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Paulsson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amdahl keeping full guard, as Paulsson tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paulsson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Amdahl keeping moving, preventing Paulsson from controlling successfully. Amdahl has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Paulsson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Amdahl. Amdahl is trying to control Paulsson's posture but Paulsson avoids it. Paulsson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Amdahl trying to control but Paulsson flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Amdahl is in bad spot here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paulsson is landing with strikes. Amdahl can't take much more of this. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
You can see the frustration on Amdahl's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Amdahl is having to fend off submission attempts from Paulsson, who is looking to sink in the choke. Paulsson doesn't have the hooks in though and Amdahl manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard. Paulsson looking to control.
Paulsson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Paulsson trying to control the position from guard on top but Amdahl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amdahl working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paulsson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paulsson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Paulsson being controlled here momentarily. Amdahl keeping moving, preventing Paulsson from controlling successfully. Paulsson is really struggling to control Amdahl but he's trying to hold on to the position. Amdahl has his foot on Paulsson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paulsson works his way back into a safe position though. Paulsson with a flurry of punches that miss. Our spies down at at Fighting Fitness & Freedom inform us that Amdahl has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paulsson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Amdahl working for submissions but it's allowed Paulsson to get to half guard.
Paulsson is trying to control. Amdahl wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Nice strikes from Paulsson there. Paulsson wants to take a breather but Amdahl is having none of it. Amdahl is looking for a sweep. Paulsson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Amdahl is refusing to be controlled, as Paulsson sits in half guard. Amdahl is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Paulsson pulls his head out easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Paulsson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Paulsson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lars Paulsson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Paulsson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paulsson passes Amdahl's left leg - he's now in half guard. Amdahl looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Amdahl wants to control but Paulsson is keeping busy and won't allow it. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Paulsson connects with a nice short shot to Amdahl's temple.
Amdahl is rocked! Paulsson scores with a big shot! Amdahl's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Amdahl! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lars Paulsson! A relieved looking Lars Paulsson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
