Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Sanford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Romero Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanford displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Sanford shows good takedown defense.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Sanford sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fred Sanford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Romero Gracie.
Sanford with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Romero Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanford throws a head kick that Gracie semi-blocks.
Sanford stuffs the takedown.
Gracie takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
We've been hearing reports that Sanford has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Gracie on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Sanford. Sanford obviously looking to wear him down.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Sanford - that will leave a mark!
Gracie tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gracie looks winded!

Sanford lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Romero Gracie has been cut.
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Sanford, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Sanford against the cage but Sanford circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sanford fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gracie on the side of the head.

Sanford lands a big head kick that sends Gracie tumbling to the mat! Sanford takes a step backwards and waves Gracie back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Gracie is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sanford lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Gracie head around and knocks him out cold! Sanford hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fred Sanford!
A very excited looking Fred Sanford made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
