PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sara McSlamm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noel Contemprato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Contemprato has chosen Cats as his entrance music. Noel Contemprato will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sara McSlamm!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 50 - 24 - 4, fighting out of London, Noel Contemprato!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contemprato connects with a single shot there.
McSlamm on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Contemprato thows a left - swing and a miss!
McSlamm attempts a counter takedown but Contemprato avoids it well and moves away.

McSlamm closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Contemprato's guard.
McSlamm trying to control but Contemprato is working from the bottom.
McSlamm is looking to work some ground and pound but Contemprato has wrist control.
Contemprato lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McSlamm looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Contemprato is fighting to break McSlamm's control of his arms but McSlamm is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Contemprato accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Contemprato not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

McSlamm has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Contemprato can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McSlamm looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Contemprato puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Contemprato thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McSlamm's head.
McSlamm avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Contemprato.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McSlamm is looking to control Contemprato's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McSlamm avoid being mounted?
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Contemprato in particular looking to stall.
McSlamm is trying to get back to full guard.
Contemprato sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McSlamm defending well though.
Contemprato missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Contemprato trying to mount his opponent but McSlamm defends it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Contemprato lands a head kick. McSlamm smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

McSlamm connects with a body shot that sends Contemprato's belly button to the back.
Contemprato lands with a good body shot.
McSlamm walks forward, straight into a front kick from Contemprato.
Jab, jab by Contemprato - just one landing.
McSlamm scores with a jab to the body.
Contemprato scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Contemprato throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McSlamm sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Noel Contemprato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from McSlamm. Contemprato does a little dance to reset his feet.
Contemprato slips under a jab from McSlamm.
Contemprato throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Contemprato catches McSlamm with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Noel Contemprato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Contemprato throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McSlamm walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McSlamm slips a jab from Contemprato.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Noel Contemprato dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Contemprato lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Contemprato fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McSlamm.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Contemprato misses with a body shot.

and McSlamm counters with a takedown into side control.

Contemprato explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This has been an exciting period of action!

and McSlamm counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McSlamm landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


It looks like Noel Contemprato has been cut.
McSlamm is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McSlamm is looking to take a break and control but Contemprato is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Contemprato makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Contemprato.
Contemprato looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Noel Contemprato has got the better of the ground game so far.

McSlamm stops Contemprato from standing up.
McSlamm trying to control the position from guard on top but Contemprato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Contemprato wants to sweep but no luck.
Contemprato keeping moving, preventing McSlamm from controlling successfully.
McSlamm makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Contemprato wants to stand but McSlamm is controlling the position.
McSlamm is in close to Contemprato's body, working some short punches and elbows.
McSlamm throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

McSlamm wants to control from the top but Contemprato keeps moving.
McSlamm postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Contemprato tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McSlamm controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Contemprato controls McSlamm momentarily but McSlamm frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Contemprato throws out a loose jab but McSlamm uses good head movement to avoid it.

McSlamm decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Contemprato is looking to improve his position.
McSlamm wants to control but Contemprato is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Contemprato is controlling McSlamm's trapped leg to prevent McSlamm from advancing to side control.
McSlamm moves into full mount! Contemprato won't be happy about that!
McSlamm lands with some strikes.
Contemprato has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McSlamm lands a big shot there that rocks Contemprato but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
McSlamm working the ground and pound effectively.


That has opened up Noel Contemprato's cut even more.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Contemprato is looking to improve his position but McSlamm isn't that keen on the idea.
Contemprato tries to hold on but McSlamm pushes him away.
McSlamm lands a big elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sara McSlamm will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Noel Contemprato's cut.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Noel Contemprato's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Sara McSlamm decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
