PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alan Mullins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Junior Ramos!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullins closes the distance and clinches up with Ramos, looking for a takedown. Mullins pushes Ramos against the cage but Ramos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ramos throws a fast counter high kick but Mullins manages to duck under it in time.
Mullins blocks a head kick by Ramos.
Mullins fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ramos avoids the body shot from Mullins.

Ramos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ramos is working for a kimura but Mullins is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mullins is refusing to be controlled, as Ramos sits in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mullins wants to get back to his feet.
Mullins is staying active underneath Ramos, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mullins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ramos engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ramos passes into half guard.
Ramos trying to pass the guard but Mullins defending well.
Mullins is trying to stand back up but Ramos is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramos wants to control but Mullins is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ramos escapes and gets back to his feet.
Mullins tries to bum rush Ramos with a series of wild strikes but Ramos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ramos raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mullins.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Mullins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ramos pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ramos gets the takedown into side control.

Mullins explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Ramos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mullins tries to get to full guard but Ramos has control of the leg.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Ramos wants to control but Mullins is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mullins taking some punishment here, with Ramos in his half guard.
Ramos is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ramos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mullins trying to get back to full guard but Ramos takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Mullins manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Ramos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mullins!
Ramos with shots to the head and body - Mullins looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mullins tries to buck Ramos off but he can't manage it.
Ramos has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mullins's face.
Ramos controlling the pace for now.
It looks like Ramos might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ramos wants to take Mullins's back but he can't do it this time.
Ramos postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Mullins bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Ramos and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Junior Ramos!
