The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Freeman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Freeman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Irwin keeps working.
Irwin is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Irwin is in trouble now - Freeman has advanced to mount!

Irwin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Freeman.
Irwin blocking the ground and pound.
Freeman working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Freeman misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freeman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Irwin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Irwin and Freeman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The strikes coming from Freeman are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Freeman is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Irwin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Freeman gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Irwin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Freeman lets go of the hold and Irwin can pop his arm back in it's socket.
