Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sang Reeves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Makunouchi Ippo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reeves walks into a left hand.


It looks like Sang Reeves has been cut.
Ippo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Reeves tries to close the distance and clinch but Ippo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ippo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Reeves takes a swing at Ippo's ribcage but misses.

Ippo pushes Reeves up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Ippo.
Ippo wants to break free but Reeves has control.
Reeves misses with the head strike.
Ippo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reeves has him pressed against the cage.
Ippo is trying to break the clinch but Reeves has him pressed against the cage.
Reeves throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reeves with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Ippo misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Reeves.
Ippo is trying to break the clinch but Reeves has him pressed against the cage.
Reeves keeps control of Ippo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Reeves lands a shoulder strike.
Ippo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Reeves pulls Ippo into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ippo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Reeves is proving hard to escape from.
Reeves looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ippo gets to his feet - Reeves follows without any prompting.

Ippo moves into the clinch.
Ippo is trying to force a seperation but Reeves has the dominant position.
Ippo lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ippo working some nice short punches in the clinch.


Reeves is rocked!
Ippo has had enough of the clinch but Reeves keeps him there for the moment.
Oh Reeves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Reeves throws a knee to the head but misses.
Ippo is trying to break the clinch but Reeves has him pressed against the cage.
Reeves goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ippo prevents it.

Ippo breaks the clinch.
Ippo cracks Reeves's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Reeves slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Ippo can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Makunouchi Ippo!
