Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kunyuk Beluk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason has chosen Darude - Sandstorm as his entrance music. Max Mason will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kunyuk Beluk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Max Mason! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Beluk swings for the body but Mason moves out of range.
Beluk is looking to slow Mason down with leg kicks. Beluk misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mason.
Mason closes the distance and clinches. Mason is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Beluk is defending well for now. Mason trying to land knees to the body.
Beluk tries to pull guard but Mason holds him up against the cage and eventually Beluk drops back down to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason won't allow Beluk to sweep him here. Mason stays in close to Beluk's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beluk is pulling down on Mason's head. It's preventing any offense from Mason, at least for the moment. Beluk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beluk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between Beluk's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Beluk controls Mason momentarily but Mason frees himself. Beluk being controlled here, momentarily. Mason won't allow Beluk to sweep him here. Mason must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mason being controlled here momentarily. Mason stopping the sweep attempt from Beluk. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason wanted to stand there but Beluk had control of the position. Mason stays in close to Beluk's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mason's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Beluk definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Beluk keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Mason trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beluk wants to stand and escape but Mason is having none of it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mason slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Beluk rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mason counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Beluk thuds a left hand into Mason's body. Beluk slips a straight right by Mason. Beluk drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mason sprawls and moves away. Mason uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beluk.
Mason thuds his right hand into Beluk's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Mason throws a hook but Beluk blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mason moves to clinch but Beluk breaks away and Beluk counters with an outside leg kick.

Mason moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mason crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Beluk - the referee stops the clock and Mason gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Beluk. Mason manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Beluk bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. A good leg kick by Beluk. Max Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beluk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mason was well out of range. Poor timing from Beluk. Nice body punch from Beluk. Mason displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Beluk throws out the jab. Mason is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mason connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mason misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Mason lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Beluk backwards. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kunyuk Beluk will probably get the nod. That's time! Beluk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Beluk has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Mason lands with a nice body punch. Mason looks to land a combination but Beluk avoids it well. Mason tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Beluk is looking to wear down Mason with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Mason connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Beluk pushes down on Mason's leg and manages to get into half guard. Beluk is taking a breather. Mason says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Beluk is looking for a kimura here.

Mason felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Mason tries to get to full guard but Beluk has control of the leg. Beluk slows the pace down in half guard. Beluk looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Beluk sitting and controlling from the half guard. Mason has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beluk is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Kunyuk Beluk will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mason lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Beluk has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Beluk and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Mason fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beluk manages to avoid it. Beluk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Beluk slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Mason is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Beluk passes into half guard. Beluk perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kunyuk Beluk. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beluk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
