PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Les Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alk Manik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Les Padilla has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alk Manik!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manik is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Padilla knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Padilla for a finish.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Padilla knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Manik on the ground.

Manik goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Padilla escapes and is now in half guard on top.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Padilla connects with a nice short shot to Manik's temple.

Padilla working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Padilla throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Manik tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Padilla is in Manik's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Manik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Padilla but Padilla pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Manik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Padilla sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Manik somewhat.

Manik has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Padilla can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Padilla accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Manik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Padilla gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Manik takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Padilla is nestled in close to Manik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Padilla is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Padilla looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Manik with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Padilla wants to work for an arm triangle but Manik is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
