Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sherwood Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Sinclur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sinclur has chosen Ganjaman as his entrance music. Bob Sinclur has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sherwood Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Sinclur!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sinclur gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Monroe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monroe scoring with punches to the head and body.
Monroe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Monroe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Monroe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sinclur looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sinclur looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sinclur!

A lull in the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monroe manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Sinclur looks like he's trying to stand up.
Monroe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Monroe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sinclur's head.
Sinclur manages to get to full guard.

Monroe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sinclur is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sinclur has escaped and now he's on top!

Sinclur wants to control from the top but Monroe keeps moving.
Sinclur is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Sinclur stays in close to Monroe's body and controls the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Monroe holds on and takes a little breather.
Monroe tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Monroe has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Monroe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sinclur is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sinclur clinches up against the cage.

Sinclur pulls guard effortlessly.
Monroe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Monroe has gone for a leg lock! Sinclur slips out almost immediately though and dives into Monroe's guard.

Sinclur not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Monroe has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Sinclur must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Monroe wants to stand up but Sinclur is controlling him.

Bob Sinclur dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Sinclur pushes Monroe up against the cage in a clinch.
Monroe stalling in the clinch but Sinclur improves position.

Sinclur pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Monroe throws a head kick but Sinclur moves out of range.
Sherwood Monroe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sinclur rushes Monroe and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Monroe trying to land knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monroe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Monroe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Monroe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sinclur is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Monroe, into his guard.

Sinclur prevents Monroe from getting back to his feet.
Sinclur is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sinclur wants to control from the top but Monroe keeps moving.
Sinclur preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sinclur controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Monroe trying to keep a closed guard but Sinclur is proving a slippery customer.
Monroe pulls Sinclur in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sinclur closes the distance and clinches.

Monroe doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Monroe breaks from the clinch.

Sinclur gets a clinch.
Monroe looking to slow down the pace here.

Sinclur pulls guard successfully.
Sinclur trying to keep a closed guard but Monroe is proving a slippery customer.
Sinclur is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sinclur working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Monroe.

Sinclur is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sinclur remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Monroe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sinclur asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sinclur has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Sinclur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Sinclur has managed to clinch.
Sinclur blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Monroe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sinclur displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Monroe.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monroe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Monroe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Monroe is trying to stall.

Monroe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Monroe tries to keep at a distance but Sinclur has taken the fight into the clinch.

Monroe breaks from the clinch.
Sinclur lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monroe shoots in for a double leg but Sinclur sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sherwood Monroe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sinclur.

Sinclur shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Monroe napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Monroe tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sinclur easily slips into full mount!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Monroe keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Monroe is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Sinclur controlling the position easily from mount.
Monroe wants to control but Sinclur is having none of it.
Monroe is squirming around, avoiding Sinclur's attempts to control the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Monroe can't escape the position.
Sinclur sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
You get the feeling that Monroe really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Sinclur controlling the pace for now.
Sinclur looking to control but Monroe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Bob Sinclur comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sinclur has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
