Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Deair Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Longson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deair Shaw could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brandon Longson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deair Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Longson!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw stuffs the takedown attempt from Longson. Longson gets slowly back to his feet.
Shaw definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Longson throws a series of punches but Shaw moves out of range.
Shaw throws a half hearted mid kick.
Longson throws a solid leg kick but Shaw takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Longson.
Shaw blocks a head kick by Longson.
Longson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Longson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shaw pinned against the cage. Shaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shaw throws the kick towards the body but Longson avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Longson drives through with a takedown into Shaw's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Shaw wants to sweep here but Longson controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaw has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Longson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shaw.
Shaw is breathing heavily.
Shaw is not content to let Longson control the position.

Shaw tries to bench press Longson off him but Longson keeps the position.

Longson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Shaw is looking for a sweep.
Longson advances to mount.
Shaw might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Longson has control of Shaw's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shaw regains control of the situation pretty easily.

BOOM! Longson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Longson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shaw is looking to escape.

Longson wants to control the pace but Shaw is squirming around nicely.
Longson thowing shots but they're missing.
Longson trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Longson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Shaw turns into him and now he's in Longson's guard.
Longson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Longson prevents Shaw from improving his position.
Longson throwing shots but Shaw is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Longson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Longson fails with a takedown attempt.

Shaw closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Longson to the mat! Longson manages to get full guard.

Longson pushes a forearm under Shaw's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Shaw is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brandon Longson!
Brandon Longson took some time post fight to say the following; 'Nobody can go to the ground with me, when my striking improves the champ needs to watch out.'.
