Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jax Marciano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Allan! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marciano tries to bum rush Allan with a series of wild strikes but Allan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Marciano slaps away a takedown attempt from Allan, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nice takedown defense from Allan. No joy for Marciano on that attempt. Allan shoots for a double leg takedown but Marciano sprawls well. He's pushed Allan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Marciano gets in close and instigates a clinch. Allan prevents a takedown attempt there.

Jax Marciano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Allan. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Allan has Marciano pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Marciano manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Marciano escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Allan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marciano is fending him off so far but Allan persists. Nope, Marciano circles away and we're back to standing. Allan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Marciano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Marciano is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marciano is working to avoid the ground and pound but Allan connects with a decent elbow. You can see the frustration on Marciano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Marciano parries the strikes from Allan easily there. Allan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Marciano to escape.
Allan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Marciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Allan on the ground. Allan working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marciano wants to get back to his feet but Allan drags him back down. Allan scoring with punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Allan is working to tighten his grip on Marciano's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Marciano has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Allan is really squeezing tight and eventually Marciano passes out! Allan breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
