Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Lozoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and chuck liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Lozoya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, chuck liddel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

liddel drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Lozoya trying to strike off his back.
liddel prevents Lozoya from getting back to his feet.

liddel decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lozoya, up you get!
liddel wants to clinch.

Lozoya shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lozoya seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but liddel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
liddel is trying to stand back up but Lozoya is controlling him

Lozoya working the head and body with strikes.

Lozoya wants to work for an arm triangle but liddel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
liddel tries to kick Lozoya off but Lozoya keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lozoya misses with a head shot. liddel uses the momentum to regain guard.
liddel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lozoya is controlling him.

Lozoya wants to stand but liddel is controlling his posture from full guard.
Lozoya is breathing heavily.
liddel has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lozoya has passed into side control.
liddel pushes Lozoya away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lozoya gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Lozoya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lozoya taking a break here but liddel is having none of it and regains half guard.

Lozoya tries to pass the half guard into mount. liddel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
liddel throws a strike from the bottom but Lozoya passes into side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if liddel can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lozoya takes one to the chin there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but chuck liddel will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



liddel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

liddel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
liddel thuds a left hand into Lozoya's body.

liddel darts in and clinches Lozoya up against the cage.
liddel changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lozoya fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A short body shot lands from liddel as the two fighters clinch.

liddel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lozoya circles away.

Lozoya tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. liddel smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Lozoya. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lozoya's corner calls for a 1-2. Lozoya obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

liddel moves into range and clinches up with Lozoya.
liddel landing some nice looking knees to the body.

liddel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A good leg kick by liddel.

liddel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
liddel missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
liddel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lozoya trying to hold on to liddel's head to control him but liddel postures up.

Lozoya is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but liddel pulls his head out easily.
liddel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lozoya does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. liddel connects with a nice short shot to Lozoya's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like liddel is going to stand back up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lozoya manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

liddel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
liddel throws a strike but Lozoya rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lozoya postures up.

liddel uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

chuck liddel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Lozoya's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and liddel counters with a single leg into guard. Lozoya didn't expect that.

liddel gets to his feet. Lozoya looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

liddel feints and as Lozoya raises his hands in defense, liddel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
liddel stays in close to Lozoya's body and controls the position.
Lozoya avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lozoya trying to keep a closed guard but liddel is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
liddel wants to get up but he can't break Lozoya's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
liddel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

liddel wants to control from the top but Lozoya keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

liddel has managed to clinch.
liddel lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Lozoya tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

liddel has clasped his hands together around Lozoya's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Lozoya is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lozoya manages to work his way to half guard, despite liddel's best efforts.

Lozoya is trying to control but can't.
Lozoya has hold of liddel's hands but liddel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
liddel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
liddel slows the pace down in half guard.
chuck liddel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Let's hope that liddel has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lozoya throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
liddel is pressing down on Lozoya's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lozoya is holding on for now.
liddel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lozoya. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

liddel is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Lozoya has managed to free his arm - good work.

And that's the end of the fight!
chuck liddel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well liddel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
