Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Palya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Gunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Palya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Gunner!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palya has a takedown stuffed.
Palya will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gunner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Palya takes one on the button.
Gunner lands with a right hand.

Palya throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gunner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Palya is in Gunner's guard.
Palya forces his way into half guard.
Gunner is looking to control Palya's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gunner avoid being mounted?
Palya prevents Gunner from improving his position.

Gunner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Palya pulls his head out easily.
Gunner is trying to control but can't.

Palya winds up and cracks Gunner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Palya is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gunner looking for submissions off his back.
Gunner tries to get to full guard but Palya has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palya not doing much here.
Palya works his foot free and advances to mount.

Palya stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Gunner throws a nice looking combination but Palya bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gunner connects with a body shot.
Gunner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gunner stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Palya. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Palya drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gunner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palya. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Palya avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gunner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gunner is staying active underneath Palya, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Palya wants to take a breather but Gunner is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Palya will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Palya has his takedown stuffed
and Gunner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Robert Palya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gunner throws a combination. Palya tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Robert Palya has been cut.
Gunner lands with an overhand left.
Palya fails with the takedown.

Palya shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gunner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Palya wants to control from the top but Gunner keeps moving.
Palya content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Palya trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gunner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Palya gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gunner is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Palya defends well.
Palya tries to free his leg and advance position but Gunner is retaining full guard.

Gunner looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gunner is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Palya controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gunner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gunner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Palya missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Palya is looking to work some ground and pound but Gunner has wrist control.
Palya postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Palya is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gunner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gunner has escaped and now he's on top!

Palya wants to get back to his feet but Gunner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Gunner looking to sit in guard and control but Palya gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Palya passes Gunner's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Palya trying to mount his opponent but Gunner defends it.

Palya gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Palya takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gunner connects with a body shot.
Nice takedown defense from Gunner. No joy for Palya on that attempt.

A little jabbing left from Gunner on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Gunner fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Palya looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Robert Palya is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Palya takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Palya walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gunner darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice cross by Gunner.
Palya takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Palya fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gunner sprawls well initially but Palya persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Gunner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Gunner connects with a body shot.

Palya closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gunner quickly recovers to half guard.

Palya is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gunner defends it well.
Gunner wants to get back to his feet.
Gunner is looking to control Palya's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gunner avoid being mounted?
Gunner pushes Palya off looking to stand but Palya dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gunner is looking for a sweep. Palya is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gunner is trying to stand up here but Palya is controlling him well.

Gunner tries to lock up and control but Palya gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Palya thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Palya takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Palya prevents Gunner from standing back up.
Palya keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Palya is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Palya throwing shots but Gunner is blocking nicely.

Palya is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gunner is trying to maintain the position but Palya is very close to passing his half guard.
Gunner tries to roll over but Palya keeps him under control.

Palya is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gunner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Palya.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gunner manages to get to full guard.
Gunner keeping moving, preventing Palya from controlling successfully.
Gunner trying to keep a closed guard but Palya is proving a slippery customer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
