The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicholson moves forwards but La Hoya connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Lyle Nicholson has been cut.

Nicholson instigates a clinch.
La Hoya scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Nicholson wants to break free but La Hoya has control.
Nicholson tries to circle away but La Hoya has him pinned against the cage.
Nicholson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nicholson fails to pull guard.
La Hoya lands a left hand that snaps the head of Nicholson backwards.

Nicholson is rocked!
La Hoya lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Oh Nicholson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
La Hoya lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Nicholson to his knees! La Hoya keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Oscar La Hoya spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
