Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Howell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Doom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Howell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Doom! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Howell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Doom counters with a lovely shot to the body. Howell throws out a loose jab but Doom uses good head movement to avoid it. Howell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Howell's corner calls for a 1-2. Howell obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Doom moves into the clinch. Howell dodges an elbow strike from Doom.
Doom misses with a hook to the ribs.
Doom is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Howell can't fight it off and eventually Doom manages to take the fight to the floor. Howell looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Howell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Doom wants to pass the guard but Howell is keeping the position. Doom with a nice head shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Doom. Doom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Doom passes Howell's left leg - he's now in half guard. Doom is keen to just control but Howell is a slippery customer. Doom is nestled in close to Howell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Howell is staying active underneath Doom, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Howell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doom. Doom lands strikes from half guard. Howell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Howell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Howell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doom. Doom with the ground and pound but Howell uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doom with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Doom works over Howell with some ground and pound from guard. Doom looking to sit in guard and control but Howell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Howell preventing the sweep. Doom keeps trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doom is still trying to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doom pulls Howell in close to prevent any damage. Howell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doom swivels though and keeps the full guard. Howell won't allow Doom to sweep him here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Doom looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Howell trying to control the position from guard on top but Doom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Howell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Doom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Howell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Doom. Howell getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Howell swings for the body but Doom moves out of range.
And Doom tries to counter it with a takedown but Howell pushes his down on his head and steps out. Howell moves out of range of the body kick from Doom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Howell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Doom throws a quick inside leg kick. Howell chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Doom can pounce on him.
Doom staying out of range there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Doom dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Howell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The fighters circling - Howell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Doom appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Doom cracks Howell with a big right hand and Howell goes down! Doom forces his way into half guard. Howell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doom. Doom works his way into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Howell takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Howell is rocked! Doom in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Howell is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dave Doom! Dave Doom took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Spartan Nutrition for their support in the buildup to the fight. Josh Howell was interviewed post fight and said 'My opposition fought like a 10-year-old girl tonight. I'm not sure if I got knocked out or lost a terrible decision. My head hurts. '.
