Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryuu Masaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryuu Masaru! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 51 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Schwarzeneg! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masaru closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Schwarzeneg quickly recovers to half guard. Schwarzeneg keeping control of the position. Masaru missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Masaru is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Schwarzeneg manages to regain half guard. Good work. Masaru tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Masaru lands a nice short elbow. Schwarzeneg flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Masaru is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schwarzeneg makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Schwarzeneg. Schwarzeneg is trying to keep Masaru in close.
Masaru slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Schwarzeneg wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schwarzeneg trying to strike off his back.
Schwarzeneg wants to stand and escape but Masaru is having none of it. Masaru advances to half guard. Masaru not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Masaru is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Schwarzeneg! Masaru has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The referee warns Schwarzeneg that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Schwarzeneg is in a horrible position here. Masaru smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
It looks like Roger Schwarzeneg has been cut. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Masaru dominating with strikes here. Masaru thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Masaru is working for a guillotine from mount but Schwarzeneg frees his head quite easily.
Masaru tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Masaru unloading with bombs! Schwarzeneg is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Masaru cracks Schwarzeneg with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That has opened up Roger Schwarzeneg's cut even more. Schwarzeneg sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Masaru wants to take a breather but Schwarzeneg is having none of it. Schwarzeneg regains full guard. Nicely done. Masaru is looking to advance position but Schwarzeneg has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Masaru manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes. Schwarzeneg takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Masaru is not content to let Schwarzeneg control the position. Masaru looks like he's trying to stand up.
Schwarzeneg throwing shots but Masaru is blocking nicely. Masaru blocking the ground and pound attempt from Schwarzeneg. Masaru keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Masaru is trying to stand up here but Schwarzeneg is controlling him well. Masaru looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Masaru is not content to let Schwarzeneg control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schwarzeneg. Schwarzeneg closes the distance and clinches up with Masaru, looking for a takedown. Schwarzeneg pushes Masaru against the cage but Masaru circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Masaru stuffs the takedown. Ryuu Masaru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Schwarzeneg. Masaru fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Schwarzeneg with a lazy takedown attempt and Masaru makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Masaru fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schwarzeneg avoids it really well and circles away. Schwarzeneg doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schwarzeneg closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Masaru's guard. Schwarzeneg trying to control the position from guard on top but Masaru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Masaru wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Schwarzeneg is now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masaru wants to get back to his feet.
Schwarzeneg thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Masaru's head. My spies in Kombat MMA inform me that Schwarzeneg has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Schwarzeneg decides to stand up. Masaru defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schwarzeneg. Schwarzeneg shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Masaru manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Schwarzeneg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Masaru works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Masaru is adopting a defensive guard. Schwarzeneg throws a big right hand that misses. Schwarzeneg trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwarzeneg looking to pass the guard. Masaru bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schwarzeneg's guard. Masaru is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Schwarzeneg looking to hit a scissor sweep but Masaru is one step ahead there. Masaru controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Schwarzeneg is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwarzeneg wants to sweep here but Masaru controlling him for the moment. Masaru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Masaru is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Schwarzeneg looking to hit a scissor sweep but Masaru is one step ahead there. Masaru is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schwarzeneg can do to turn this around? Masaru landing some decent shots from guard. Masaru sitting in guard here, content to control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Schwarzeneg keeping full guard, as Masaru tries to pass. Masaru gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Schwarzeneg counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Masaru is lucky that one didn't land flush. Schwarzeneg takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Schwarzeneg looks for a takedown but Masaru sprawls well. Schwarzeneg closes the distance and clinches. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Masaru tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Schwarzeneg defends well and Masaru ends up having to push Schwarzeneg into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Schwarzeneg wants to counter with a clinch but Masaru pushes him away. Schwarzeneg throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Masaru's waist but Masaru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schwarzeneg off to one side. Schwarzeneg takes a kick to the side of the head. No luck for Schwarzeneg with that takedown attempt. Masaru lands an overhand right. Masaru feints and as Schwarzeneg raises his hands in defense, Masaru changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Schwarzeneg has his feet on Masaru's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Schwarzeneg instigates a clinch. Masaru is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Schwarzeneg tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Masaru just stands there and leans against the cage. Masaru manages to break the clinch.
Masaru stalks Schwarzeneg and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Schwarzeneg's face. Schwarzeneg staggers backwards, shaken. Schwarzeneg takes a body punch but keeps moving. Roger Schwarzeneg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schwarzeneg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Masaru is refusing to be controlled, as Schwarzeneg sits in half guard. Masaru tries to roll over but Schwarzeneg keeps him under control. Schwarzeneg tries to pass to full mount but Masaru defends it. Masaru trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwarzeneg working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Schwarzeneg decides to stand and escape the position. Masaru misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
This has been an exciting period of action! Schwarzeneg closes the distance and pushes Masaru back into the cage. Masaru gets through Schwarzeneg's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Masaru slows down the pace here.
Masaru breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schwarzeneg scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ryuu Masaru. I think Masaru has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
