Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shirley Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristian Smilenov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shirley Franks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kristian Smilenov! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smilenov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smilenov slows the pace down. Smilenov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Franks has escaped the position, nice work there. Franks isn't going anywhere. Smilenov is trying to get an arm triangle but Franks is defending well. Franks wants to control but Smilenov postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smilenov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Franks's shoulder. That is not cool. Franks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smilenov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franks is working hard here to advance position. Smilenov misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Franks can't do much from the bottom here. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The ground and pound from Smilenov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Franks is looking to reverse the position. You can see the frustration on Franks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Franks is trying to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Franks can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Smilenov ducks down and throws a hook to the body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Smilenov has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Franks is trying to keep an underhook but Smilenov manages to get the takedown into half guard. Franks is trying to escape back to his feet but Smilenov uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Franks is looking for a sweep. Franks is trying to escape the position but Smilenov is controlling the position. Smilenov working away. Franks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Franks is breathing heavily. Smilenov just content to control the position. Franks is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smilenov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Smilenov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Franks is defending against the submission attempts here by Smilenov.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Smilenov decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Smilenov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Smilenov is working Franks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smilenov lands a couple of digs. Smilenov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kristian Smilenov dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Smilenov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Franks looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Smilenov controlling the position. Kristian Smilenov has got the better of the ground game so far. Let's hope that Smilenov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Smilenov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Franks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Smilenov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Franks is trying to control Smilenov's posture but Smilenov avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franks is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franks pushes Smilenov off looking to stand but Smilenov dives back in and keeps control.
Smilenov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Smilenov stands up and beckons Franks to join him on the feet. Smilenov avoids the head kick by Franks.
Smilenov tries to counter by closing the distance. Smilenov clinches. Smilenov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smilenov clinches with his opponent.
Franks misses with a punch to the body.
Smilenov is struggling to control the position. Smilenov pulls guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smilenov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Franks stopping the sweep attempt from Smilenov. Smilenov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Smilenov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smilenov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Smilenov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Franks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franks keeping moving, preventing Smilenov from controlling successfully. Smilenov with a nice head shot there. Franks lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smilenov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Franks trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Smilenov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Franks preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kristian Smilenov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Smilenov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Franks sprawls well initially but Smilenov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Franks gets full guard. Smilenov trying to control the position from guard on top but Franks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Franks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smilenov's guard. Smilenov controls Franks momentarily but Franks frees himself. Smilenov pushes a forearm under Franks's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Franks is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
