Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Townsend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Townsend's half guard. Perez with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Perez is trying to work for a kimura but Townsend is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Townsend doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Perez. Perez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Townsend defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez is thwarting Townsend's attempts to control the position. Townsend pushes Perez off looking to stand but Perez dives back in and keeps control.
Perez tries to stand and escape but Townsend is controlling the position. Perez controlling the pace. Townsend tries to kick Perez off but Perez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Perez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Perez passes to full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Perez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
It looks like Malcolm Townsend has been cut. Townsend looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Perez controlling the position well here. Townsend rolled but Perez kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Townsend is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Perez gets his way!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Townsend is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Townsend is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Townsend trying to get back to his feet but Perez is in full control for now. Townsend fending off the submission attempt from Perez. I really don't envy Townsend right now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perez lands shots from the back. Townsend is trying to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Perez dominated that round. The cut man is working on Malcolm Townsend's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Perez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Townsend is trying to improve his position. Perez controls the position. Perez is continuing to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez gets to mount! Townsend was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Perez putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Townsend is rocked! Perez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Oh Townsend is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Perez looking to control and managing it successfully. Townsend takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Perez's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
