Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Abramson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Fairweather! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Abramson enables Fairweather to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Abramson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Abramson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fairweather gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Abramson trying to strike off his back.

Abramson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fairweather manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fairweather looking for a sweep. Not yet Fairweather, not yet. Fairweather avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Abramson throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fairweather being controlled here, momentarily. Abramson chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abramson is working Fairweather over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Abramson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Abramson connects with a couple of short punches. Abramson stands and steps away. Fairweather gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Fairweather misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Abramson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fairweather sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Fairweather gets tackled into the cage by Abramson. Abramson maintains the clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. Abramson has Fairweather pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Abramson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fairweather tumbling to the mat - Abramson dives into Fairweather's guard. Fairweather manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Abramson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Abramson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Abramson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Fairweather has a closed guard, preventing Abramson from standing up. Fairweather keeping moving, preventing Abramson from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fairweather working a defensive guard here.
Fairweather controlling Abramson's posture. Abramson passes Fairweather's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Abramson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fairweather is not content to let Abramson control the position. Abramson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Abramson lands strikes from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fairweather is defending against the submission attempts here by Abramson.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abramson throws a strike but Fairweather manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Abramson tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
