PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armand Miranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepa Kolisko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepa Kolisko will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Armand Miranda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Pepa Kolisko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolisko digs a good hook to Miranda's body.

Kolisko gets a takedown into half guard.

Miranda makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Kolisko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miranda wants to sweep but no luck.
Kolisko trying to control but Miranda is working from the bottom.
Kolisko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kolisko is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Miranda pulls Kolisko in close to prevent any damage.

Miranda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kolisko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kolisko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Miranda wants to sweep here but Kolisko controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miranda looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Pepa Kolisko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kolisko takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kolisko tries to clinch up but Miranda circles away and keeps his distance.
Miranda appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Kolisko scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Miranda manages to mount him!

Kolisko defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Miranda.

Miranda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kolisko can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Miranda goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kolisko is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kolisko looking to sit in guard and control but Miranda gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kolisko wants to get back to his feet but Miranda is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Miranda tries to stand but Kolisko is controlling from the bottom.

Kolisko looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Miranda passes into half guard.

Miranda stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Kolisko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Armand Miranda will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Miranda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kolisko sees it coming and defends easily.

Miranda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kolisko manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kolisko is looking to sweep but instead, Miranda has passed into half guard.

Miranda is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kolisko has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kolisko manages to get to full guard.
Miranda would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Miranda lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Miranda decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kolisko, up you get!

Kolisko manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Miranda on his heels. He'll look to pass Miranda's guard now, I'm sure.
Miranda has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Miranda manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kolisko manages to get himself to full guard.

Miranda cracks Kolisko with a solid left hand.
Miranda chips away with some ground and pound.
Miranda throwing strikes but missing.
Miranda stands up over Kolisko, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Miranda avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kolisko is breathing heavily.
Miranda is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Miranda wants to get up but he can't break Kolisko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Armand Miranda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Miranda is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kolisko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miranda.

That's time! Miranda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Kolisko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Miranda did well to prevent Kolisko getting side control.
Miranda tries to roll over but Kolisko keeps him under control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miranda is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kolisko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kolisko's back!

Miranda has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kolisko has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Miranda is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Miranda is working the ground and pound. Can Kolisko escape?

Miranda is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Kolisko won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Miranda off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Armand Miranda!
