Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kimble Cho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Paul Fish! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fish shoots for a takedown but Cho saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nice defenses there by Cho. Fish tried to score with a low kick but Cho checks it. Cho blocks a head kick by Fish.
Fish throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cho counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Fish throws a head kick but Cho moves out of range.
Fish clinches. Cho managing to block the knees to the body from Fish.
A head punch on the inside from Fish fails to land. Fish misses with a short punch on the inside. A short right from Cho on the inside. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Fish throws an elbow that misses.
I was talking to Cho's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cho breaks the clinch.
Cho will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fish looks to throw the jab but Cho is out of range. Fish scores with a jab to the jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fish misses with a takedown attempt letting Cho counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Fish misses. Fish throws a head kick that misses and Cho counters with an outside leg kick.
Fish shoots in for a takedown but Cho shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Kimble Cho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Paul Fish. A head kick misses from Fish. Fish misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fish looks winded! Fish misses with a wild combination.
Cho lands a two punch combo.
Cho lands a big right hand that sends Fish crashing to the mat! Cho stays standing though and waves Fish back to his feet!
Fish is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fish misses with a hook
and Cho counters with a crisp right that sends Fish to the canvas! Cho follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
