PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Rexstrew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charlie Rexstrew will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Edmundo Mack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Charlie Rexstrew!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rexstrew.
Mack is looking to clinch.
Mack tries to clinch but Rexstrew is having none of it.
Rexstrew tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mack is defended easily by Rexstrew.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rexstrew throws a leg kick but Mack checks it.
Mack feinted with a counter takedown.
Rexstrew has a takedown stuffed.
Rexstrew shoots in but Mack avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rexstrew tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mack defends well and Rexstrew ends up having to push Mack into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It looked like Mack wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Rexstrew lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mack at a distance.

Mack keeps control of Rexstrew as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mack tries to score a body lock takedown but Rexstrew shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mack is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rexstrew pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mack is trying to pull guard but Rexstrew has him pressed against the cage.
Mack tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rexstrew just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rexstrew jumps into guard, dragging Mack to the mat.

Mack stands up and waves to Rexstrew to follow him.
Mack closes the distance and clinches up with Rexstrew, looking for a takedown. Mack pushes Rexstrew against the cage but Rexstrew circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rexstrew shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mack as he jumps to the side.
Rexstrew throws a head kick but Mack moves out of range.
Charlie Rexstrew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rexstrew drives through and clinches with Mack against the cage.
Rexstrew using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mack has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Rexstrew drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mack gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mack is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rexstrew tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rexstrew is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mack gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rexstrew is trying to break the clinch but Mack is controlling him.
Rexstrew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rexstrew drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mack gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rexstrew stalling the fight.

Mack breaks from the clinch.
Rexstrew shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mack but Mack pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rexstrew connects with the punch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mack tries to keep at a distance but Rexstrew has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mack is trying to drag Rexstrew to the mat but Rexstrew just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rexstrew darts in looking for a takedown but Mack gets double underhooks and turns Rexstrew into the cage.
Mack circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mack is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Mack stuffs the takedown.

Mack rushes Rexstrew and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mack tries to pull guard but Rexstrew forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Mack tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rexstrew smiles and moves away.

Mack tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rexstrew counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch but Rexstrew swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rexstrew wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mack is now in half guard.
Rexstrew is looking for a sweep. Mack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mack swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rexstrew is now in Mack's guard. A big mistake from Mack there, giving up the dominant position!

Mack is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mack looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Charlie Rexstrew is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rexstrew shoots for a double leg takedown but Mack sprawls well. He's pushed Rexstrew's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Rexstrew thuds his right hand into Mack's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rexstrew closes the distance and clinches up with Mack, looking for a takedown. Rexstrew pushes Mack against the cage but Mack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rexstrew tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mack manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mack gets the takedown into side control.
Mack misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mack is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rexstrew is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mack tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mack has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mack swings around for an armbar but Rexstrew sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mack's guard.
Rexstrew throws a big right hand that misses.
Mack can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rexstrew controls the pace.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mack working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rexstrew.

Rexstrew gets to his feet - Mack follows without any prompting.
Rexstrew shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
An attempted straight right counter from Mack misses the target.
Mack avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rexstrew darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Mack makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
