PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mo Riggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason McWhorter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason McWhorter told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mo Riggins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason McWhorter!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McWhorter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Riggins.
McWhorter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Riggins.
Riggins works the jab nicely.
Riggins swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McWhorter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Riggins. Riggins obviously looking to wear him down.
Riggins tries a head kick but it misses.
Riggins misses the shot to the body.

McWhorter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McWhorter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Riggins looks to score with a jab to the body but McWhorter is just out of range.
McWhorter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Riggins is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but McWhorter is keeping busy.

McWhorter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Riggins is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

McWhorter has closed the distance and engaged Riggins in a clinch.
Riggins is pressed up against the cage. McWhorter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Riggins down to the mat. Riggins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

McWhorter is rocked!
Riggins swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Riggins pushes McWhorter off and gets back to his feet.
Riggins tries to bum rush McWhorter with a series of wild strikes but McWhorter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McWhorter seems to have recovered his senses.

McWhorter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McWhorter is keen to just control but Riggins is a slippery customer.
Riggins is trying to control but can't.

McWhorter gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

McWhorter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Riggins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McWhorter is working away from the top position though.
Jason McWhorter has got the better of the ground game so far.
McWhorter is looking to advance position but Riggins won't allow it.

Riggins regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from McWhorter.
