PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dorsey Thornton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badr Hari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hari has chosen Badr Hari as his entrance music. Badr Hari will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dorsey Thornton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Badr Hari!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Hari.
Thornton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hari throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thornton's waist but Thornton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hari off to one side.

Hari lands a left and a right that sends Thornton crashing to the canvas! Hari dives into mount looking to finish!


It looks like Dorsey Thornton has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thornton reaches up and holds on to Hari to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hari trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Thornton is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hari avoids the attempt from Thornton to control.
Thornton is squirming around, avoiding Hari's attempts to control the action.
Thornton is working to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hari sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hari can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thornton is looking to escape.
Hari tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hari avoids the attempt from Thornton to control.
Thornton holds on for dear life, controlling Hari's posture momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thornton tries to hold on but Hari pushes him away.
Thornton is looking to get to half guard.
Hari controlling from mount.
Thornton tries to hold on but Hari postures up.
Hari controlling the pace for now.
Thornton holds on, trying desperately to control.
Hari is stalling here but it's allowed Thornton to get half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thornton tries to kick Hari off but Hari keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hari controlling the pace.
Hari passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Thornton!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thornton tries to hold on but Hari postures up.
Thornton is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hari is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Thornton working to try and regain half guard.
Thornton wants to hold on but Hari pushes him away.
Hari wants to control the pace but Thornton is squirming around nicely.
Thornton slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hari seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Thornton wants to control but Hari is keeping busy and won't allow it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Badr Hari dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dorsey Thornton's cut.
That's time! Thornton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hari clinches up against the cage.
Hari lands an uppercut.
Hari lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Thornton backwards.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Thornton tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Thornton can't find room to land a body shot as Hari controls the action.
Hari using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hari.
Thornton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hari just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hari is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hari is pressed up against the cage. Thornton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hari down to the mat. Hari avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Badr Hari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hari buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hari scores with a one two! Thornton had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Dorsey Thornton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hari throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Thornton counters with a takedown into side control.
Hari wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Thornton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hari wants to get back to his feet but Thornton drags him back down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Thornton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Thornton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hari tries to buck Thornton off but Thornton is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hari throws a nice head kick!
Whack! Hari lands a heavy head kick that drops Thornton. The ref tackles Hari to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Thornton was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Badr Hari!
Badr Hari opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
