Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Dale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Leono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drew Leono has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyle Dale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drew Leono!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leono closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dale quickly recovers to half guard.

Leono is trying to work for a kimura but Dale is defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leono in particular looking to stall.
Leono moves nicely into side control.

Leono stands up and beckons Dale to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Leono gets a clinch.
Leono is trying to break the clinch but Dale has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Leono pulls Dale into guard.
Dale would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dale is looking to work some ground and pound but Leono has wrist control.
Dale throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Leono works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leono is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dale defends well.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Leono seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Leono looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Leono throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Leono is working for a kimura but Dale is defending it quite comfortably.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Leono frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Leono's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Leono punching from mount but Dale doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Leono stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Leono takes the fight into the clinch.
Dale keeps control of Leono as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Leono misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dale.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Leono has picked Dale up - he's going for a ride! Leono dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dale moves out of range of the body kick.
Leono cracks a nice hook into Dale's ribs.
Dale blocks a head kick by Leono.
Dale looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Leono throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Dale looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Leono pushes past his half guard into mount!

Leono sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Leono throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Leono swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dale is now in Leono's guard. A big mistake from Leono there, giving up the dominant position!
Leono has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Dale will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dale tries to stand but Leono is controlling from the bottom.

Dale has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dale got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leono has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dale has managed to get both his arms back between Leono's legs - danger averted.

Leono has his feet on Dale's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Drew Leono is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Leono shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leono showed some decent athleticism there.
Leono thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dale's head.

Leono is taking a breather. Dale says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drew Leono showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Dale closes this distance looking for a takedown but Leono circles away.
Leono throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Leono drives through with a takedown into Dale's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Dale is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Leono dives into side control.

Leono swings around for an armbar but Dale sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Leono's guard.

Leono has a closed guard, preventing Dale from standing up.
Dale throws an elbow that misses. Leono uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dale's guard. Nice move by Leono!

Leono slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Leono is continuing to stall.

Leono gets to his feet. Dale looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dale tries to keep at a distance but Leono has taken the fight into the clinch.

Leono manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Leono has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Dale is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Dale really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Leono works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Leono is looking to work some ground and pound but Dale has wrist control.
Dale trying to strike off his back.
Leono sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Leono has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Leono drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dale dives on top into guard.


Leono has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dale can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Leono lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Leono gets to his feet - Dale follows without any prompting.

Leono throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dale was covering up waiting for the punch and Leono finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Leono advances position into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Drew Leono comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Leono has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
