PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Alberti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roldan Sangchaan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roldan Sangchaan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincent Alberti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roldan Sangchaan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alberti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sangchaan tries a head kick but it misses.
Sangchaan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alberti as he avoids it easily.

Alberti shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Alberti is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sangchaan has hold of Alberti's hands but Alberti slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Sangchaan is trying to control but Alberti passes into side control!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
You can see the frustration on Sangchaan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sangchaan is looking for a sweep.
Alberti controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alberti wants to stand but Sangchaan has his arm trapped.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sangchaan manages to get back to half guard.
Sangchaan is looking to control Alberti's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sangchaan avoid being mounted?

Still in half guard, Alberti seems content to control.
Alberti trying to advance position but Sangchaan counters by regaining guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alberti's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sangchaan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sangchaan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Alberti goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Good exchange - Sangchaan coming out on top.

Alberti shoots in and gets a takedown into Sangchaan's guard.

Sangchaan has his foot on Alberti's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alberti works his way back into a safe position though.

Sangchaan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Alberti controls the pace.

Sangchaan is trying to control the position but Alberti postures up.

Alberti slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alberti enables Sangchaan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alberti manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alberti is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sangchaan trying to control the position from guard on top but Alberti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sangchaan shoots in for a takedown but Alberti shows good takedown defense.
Alberti swats away the attempt to clinch by Sangchaan.
Alberti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sangchaan pinned against the cage. Sangchaan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sangchaan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Alberti has time to react.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alberti closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sangchaan's guard.
Alberti won't allow Sangchaan to get back to his feet.

Sangchaan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Alberti has picked Sangchaan up and slammed him! Sangchaan can't keep hold of the triangle and Alberti manages to pass to side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sangchaan is looking for a sweep.
Sangchaan is breathing heavily.
Sangchaan being controlled for a moment.
Alberti is looking to take a break and control but Sangchaan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sangchaan tries to improve position but can't.
A lull in the action here as Alberti stalls from top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sangchaan throws a head kick that misses.
Alberti tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sangchaan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alberti somewhat.

and Alberti counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Alberti is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Alberti is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sangchaan can do to turn this around?

Alberti is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Alberti tries to stand and escape but Sangchaan is controlling the position.
Alberti slows the pace down in half guard.

Alberti looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Alberti slips a straight right by Sangchaan.
Sangchaan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alberti tries to avoid it but Sangchaan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alberti to the ground. Alberti escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Alberti pulls Sangchaan in close to prevent any damage.
Sangchaan won't allow Alberti to sweep him here.

Alberti escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sangchaan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sangchaan wanted to stand there but Alberti had control of the position.
Sangchaan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sangchaan looking to sit in guard and control but Alberti gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Alberti drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sangchaan dives on top into guard.

Alberti has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Alberti has Sangchaan pulled in close to control his posture.
Sangchaan throwing strikes but missing.

Alberti bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sangchaan's guard.

Sangchaan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Alberti seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sangchaan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alberti wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Sangchaan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Alberti works to advance to full mount. Sangchaan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alberti lands a big shot there that rocks Sangchaan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Roldan Sangchaan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vincent Alberti is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alberti, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
