The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valio shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lorick Spana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aune Valio.

Valio changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spana tries to avoid it but Valio manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spana to the ground. Spana escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Spana closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valio circles away.

Valio walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Spana checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

so Spana counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Spana is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Spana wants to work for an arm triangle but Valio is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Valio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Spana paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Valio looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Spana! Submission of the night perhaps?
