Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Claudemir Bonanza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Behring! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Behring shoots in for a takedown but Bonanza shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Bonanza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Bonanza tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Bonanza is looking to take a break and control but Behring is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Behring sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Bonanza is trying to work for a kimura but Behring is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Behring is refusing to be controlled, as Bonanza sits in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Behring is defending against the submission attempts here by Bonanza.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bonanza trying to pass the guard but Behring defending well. Bonanza is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Behring sees it coming and defends easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bonanza controlling the action here. Bonanza wants to control but Behring is keeping him busy. Bonanza is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Behring! Bonanza is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Behring can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bonanza wants to take his opponent's back but Behring doesn't allow it. Behring manages to regain half guard. Good work. Bonanza knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Behring on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bonanza stalling. Bonanza wants to lay and pray for a moment but Behring keeps working. Behring actively working from the bottom here. Bonanza is keen to just control but Behring is a slippery customer. Behring looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Behring tries to roll over but Bonanza keeps him under control. Bonanza is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Behring doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bonanza. Bonanza seems to be looking for submissions.

Bonanza tries to pass to full mount but Behring defends it. Behring is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bonanza trying to control from half guard but Behring is working away. Behring looking for submissions off his back. Bonanza perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Bonanza seems to be working for a kimura but Behring defends the submission attempt. Bonanza is taking a breather. Behring says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Bonanza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Behring defends it well. Behring looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Behring manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bonanza forces his way into half guard. Behring is looking to improve his position.
Behring is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bonanza pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bonanza closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bonanza lands in his opponent's guard. Bonanza avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Bonanza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Bonanza wants to control from the top but Behring keeps moving. Claudemir Bonanza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bonanza engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Bonanza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Behring can do to turn this around? Bonanza trying to control the position from guard on top but Behring is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bonanza doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bonanza manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Behring keeping full guard, as Bonanza tries to pass. Behring is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bonanza trying to control but Behring is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bonanza trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bonanza works a leg free and moves into half guard. Behring actively working from the bottom here. Bonanza prevents Behring from improving his position. Behring is refusing to be controlled, as Bonanza sits in half guard. Bonanza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Behring defends it well. Behring is keeping the position for now. Bonanza stays in close to Behring's body and controls the position. Bonanza has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bonanza slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Bonanza tries to advance to mount but Behring instead regains half guard.

Bonanza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Behring is just riding it out for now. Bonanza eventually gives up the hold. Behring is looking to improve his position.
Bonanza wants to free his trapped foot but Behring is holding on for dear life with his legs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bonanza is looking to control the position but Behring frees his trapped leg and locks up an armbar from the bottom! It looks tight! Bonanza grimaces and holds on for a second but is forced to tap or have his arm broken! Slick Jiu Jitsu from Behring there - Bonanza really paying for some sloppy defensive work!
