Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Graves Fortune! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Asko Ilmarinen! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ilmarinen moves into the clinch successfully.
Ilmarinen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fortune definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Fortune scores with a takedown into Ilmarinen's guard. Fortune postures up and lands a big shot to Ilmarinen's brow. Ilmarinen is trying to control the position but Fortune postures up. Fortune with a flurry of punches that miss. Fortune postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Fortune throws an elbow that misses. Ilmarinen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fortune's guard. Nice move by Ilmarinen! Ilmarinen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ilmarinen wants to stand but Fortune is controlling his posture from full guard. Fortune has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ilmarinen has passed into side control.
Fortune tries to bench press Ilmarinen off him but Ilmarinen keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fortune managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ilmarinen.

Ilmarinen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Fortune is trying to get back to half guard. Ilmarinen wants to stand but Fortune has his arm trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ilmarinen throws a strike aimed at the side of Fortune's head but Fortune avoids it well. Ilmarinen passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Fortune! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ilmarinen controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Ilmarinen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Fortune can't escape the position.
Ilmarinen content just to control the position here. Fortune tries to get back to half guard but can't. Ilmarinen throwing strikes here but Fortune is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Ilmarinen controlling the pace for now. Fortune tries to improve his position but instead Ilmarinen has taken his back! Ilmarinen is hanging on to Fortune's back as he tries to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ilmarinen is looking to control Fortune but Fortune is wriggling around and keeping busy. Fortune trying to control the position but Ilmarinen manages to sink in the hooks. You can see the frustration on Fortune's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Fortune knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ilmarinen on the ground. Fortune avoids the strikes from Ilmarinen. Fortune is trying to defend against the choke here but Ilmarinen has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Ilmarinen Tightens the hold and Fortune taps out furiously! Ilmarinen displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Asko Ilmarinen! In his post fight interview, Asko Ilmarinen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
