Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Kearney!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kearney tries for a takedown but Ishida circles away easily
and Ishida counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Kearney drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ishida sneaks back into half guard.
Ishida is looking for a sweep. Kearney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kearney is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ishida defends it well.
Ishida tries to roll over but Kearney keeps him under control.
Ishida has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kearney is working away from the top position though.

Ishida is looking to improve his position.
Ishida keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Ishida is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kearney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kearney's back!
Kearney covering up well under a series of strikes from Ishida.
Ishida is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Kearney. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Ishida is trying to stick to Kearney's back but Kearney is turning into Ishida. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ishida's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kearney.
Ishida has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ishida is on top in guard.

Ishida is pushing down on Kearney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kearney is fighting to maintain full guard but Ishida has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ishida is looking to take a break and control but Kearney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kearney is refusing to be controlled, as Ishida sits in half guard.
Kearney tries to kick Ishida off but Ishida keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ishida missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ishida thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ishida trying to control the action but Kearney is working from the bottom.
Ishida moves nicely into side control.

Ishida scores with a couple of short elbows.
Ishida works to advance to full mount. Kearney defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

The referee warns Kearney that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


Kearney is rocked!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kearney looks winded!
Ishida lands a big shot to the head and Kearney winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Masaya Ishida!
Masaya Ishida bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
