Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitri Akhmetov! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akhmetov tries to bum rush Williams with a series of wild strikes but Williams uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Williams darts in and clinches Akhmetov up against the ropes. Williams stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Akhmetov has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Williams is landing a low percentage of strikes. Akhmetov connects with a nice looking jab.
Akhmetov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Williams pinned against the ropes. Williams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Williams shoots in for a takedown but Akhmetov shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A punch combination from Williams misses. Akhmetov is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. No joy there for Akhmetov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round. Akhmetov shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Williams darts in looking for a takedown but Akhmetov gets double underhooks and turns Williams into the ropes. Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Akhmetov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him. Williams shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Akhmetov sprawls well. Akhmetov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Williams gets slowly back to his feet. Williams showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Akhmetov.
The fight stays on the outside here - Akhmetov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Williams keeps the fight on the outside. Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Akhmetov swivels and escapes. Williams stuffs the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Akhmetov but Akhmetov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Akhmetov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Akhmetov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Despite the aggression on Akhmetov's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Dmitri Akhmetov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Akhmetov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Akhmetov persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing. Williams jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Williams has taken the fight to the clinch.

Williams tries to land a knee to the head but Akhmetov blocks with his arms.
Williams tries to pull guard but Akhmetov holds him up against the ropes and eventually Williams drops back down to his feet.
Williams has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Akhmetov after a bit of a struggle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams slows down the pace here.
Akhmetov is looking to break free of the clinch but Williams has double underhooks. Williams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Williams drives through and clinches with Akhmetov against the ropes.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Akhmetov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Williams to the mat! Williams manages to get full guard. Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Akhmetov trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Williams controls Akhmetov momentarily but Akhmetov frees himself. Williams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Akhmetov controls the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Akhmetov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Williams tries to strike from the bottom.

A close round but Dmitri Akhmetov will probably get the nod. That's time! Williams's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Akhmetov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Williams was well out of range. Poor timing from Akhmetov. Akhmetov drives through with a takedown into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akhmetov prevents Williams from getting back to his feet. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Akhmetov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Williams looking to control but Akhmetov passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Akhmetov in particular looking to stall. Williams wants to get back to his feet. Akhmetov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Akhmetov trying to control the action but Williams is working from the bottom. Williams is trying to control but can't.
Williams is looking for a sweep. Akhmetov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Williams is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Akhmetov slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Williams takes the fight into the clinch. Akhmetov is trying to break the clinch but Williams is controlling him. Akhmetov is trying to break the clinch but Williams has him pressed against the ropes. Williams breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Akhmetov slips under a jab. Akhmetov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Akhmetov swats away the attempt to clinch by Williams. Williams clinches. Stalling in the clinch from Williams.
Williams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Williams gets a clinch. Williams misses with a body punch.
Akhmetov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Williams has him pressed against the ropes. Williams manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Akhmetov's corner is telling him to maintain position. Williams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Akhmetov is aware though and is defending well. Akhmetov wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving. Williams has his foot on Akhmetov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Akhmetov works his way back into a safe position though. Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Williams is scooting his butt against the ropes and has managed to get back to his feet. Akhmetov presses him back against the ropes, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Williams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Akhmetov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Johnny Williams will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Williams keeps control of Akhmetov as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Williams breaks the clinch.
Williams closes the distance and clinches. Williams is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Akhmetov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Akhmetov is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Akhmetov blocks an uppercut.

Williams wants to take the fight to the mat but Akhmetov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Williams is looking for a takedown. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Akhmetov is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Akhmetov letting Williams take a breather here. Williams trying to control the position but instead, Akhmetov has worked for underhooks and has pushed Williams into the ropes. Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Dmitri Akhmetov. I think Akhmetov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
