Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Kuznetsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Perez! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kuznetsov sprawls well initially but Perez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Perez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perez is landing with some decent strikes but Kuznetsov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Perez looking to control and managing it successfully. Kuznetsov is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Kuznetsov is rocked! Perez content just to control the position here. Perez lands a heavy elbow. Oh Kuznetsov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Perez controlling the position easily from mount. Kuznetsov seems to have got his legs back now. Perez breaks from Kuznetsov's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Perez. Perez controlling his opponent. Kuznetsov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perez on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Perez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Perez in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Perez landing strikes from the mount and Kuznetsov is in trouble! Perez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kuznetsov looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Kuznetsov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
BOOM! Perez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Perez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Perez controlling from mount. Kuznetsov takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Perez's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Perez!
