Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rex Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Ennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ennis has chosen Cotton Eye Joe as his entrance music. Aaron Ennis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rex Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Ennis!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ennis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Some wild striking there from Ennis.
And Hudson counters with a quick kick to the body but Ennis blocks it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ennis has eaten all the pies!
Ennis throws a sloppy head kick and Hudson moves out of range easily.
Ennis throws a right and a left that Hudson avoids nicely.
Ennis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ennis fails to land with a series of punches.
Ennis misses with a kick to the body

and Hudson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hudson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ennis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hudson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ennis misses with a two punch combination.
Ennis chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ennis lands a nice looking body kick.
Ennis throws a leg kick which misses Hudson's front leg but catches the back leg as Hudson tries to avoid it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ennis.
Ennis scores with a leg kick.
Hudson slips a jab and a cross from Ennis.
Ennis tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hudson is able to avoid easily.
Ennis misses with a series of wild punches.
Hudson jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Aaron Ennis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ennis throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Hudson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hudson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Ennis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hudson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hudson.
Ennis wants to get back to his feet but Hudson passes into half guard.
Ennis looks winded!


Hudson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Hudson throws a quick counter head kick but Ennis was just out of range.
A combination from Ennis does no damage.

and Hudson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hudson.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ennis is working an open guard so Hudson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Ennis lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hudson takes a step back to recover.
Aaron Ennis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ennis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hudson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Ennis. No joy for Hudson on that attempt.

and Hudson counters with a good, hard body kick but Ennis shrugs it off.

Hudson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ennis circles away.

Hudson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ennis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hudson lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Ennis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Hudson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ennis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
It looked like Hudson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ennis.
Hudson avoids a punch combination nicely.
It appears Hudson was looking to counter with a kick there.
Hudson blocks a head kick by Ennis.
Ennis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Aaron Ennis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hudson closes the distance and clinches up with Ennis, looking for a takedown. Hudson pushes Ennis against the cage but Ennis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

As Ennis tries to get set, Hudson tries to push him back and clinch up but Ennis manages to avoid the attempt.

Hudson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ennis on his heels. He'll look to pass Ennis's guard now, I'm sure.
Ennis is wriggling around but Hudson manages to pass to half guard.

Ennis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Hudson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ennis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hudson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ennis sees it coming and defends easily.

Hudson escapes and gets back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Ennis.

Ennis misses with a head kick.
Hudson attempts a counter takedown but Ennis avoids it well and moves away.
Hudson moves out of range of the body kick.
Ennis throws a lazy head kick
and Hudson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hudson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Hudson rushes Ennis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ennis has Hudson pressed against the cage, preventing Hudson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hudson manages to break the clinch.

and Hudson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hudson.
Hudson goes for a takedown attempt but Ennis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ennis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It appears Hudson was looking to counter with a kick there.

Hudson shoots for a takedown but Ennis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rex Hudson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hudson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hudson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ennis tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ennis is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hudson.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Aaron Ennis will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


No joy there for Ennis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hudson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ennis.
Hudson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ennis.
Ennis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hudson circles away quickly and effectively.
Ennis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hudson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hudson lands in his opponent's guard.
Ennis is wriggling around but Hudson manages to pass to half guard.
Ennis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well, if Hudson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hudson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Ennis tries a head kick but it misses.
Hudson throws a quick counter head kick but Ennis was just out of range.
Ennis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hudson.

and Hudson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hudson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ennis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hudson.

Rex Hudson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hudson is trying to get an arm triangle but Ennis is defending well.

Hudson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ennis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ennis seems a little lost for a moment, as Hudson dominates the positioning.

Hudson stands up.
Hudson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ennis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ennis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hudson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Hudson is working for a submission of some sort.

Aaron Ennis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
