Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Poe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoover comes into the arena with Godsmack - I Stand Alone blaring out of the sound system. Poe has chosen How it is done as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Cameron Poe was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dominic Hoover! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cameron Poe! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoover throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Hoover misses with the body kick and Poe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Poe tries to score with a low kick but Hoover moves his leg out of the way. Poe lands a jab. Hoover catches Poe with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! The fighters circling - Poe throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Poe misses with a hook. Poe looks for the body kick but Hoover saw that one coming. Poe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hoover sees it coming and avoids it easily. As Poe looks to move away, Hoover throws a big counter combo but Poe just gets out of the way. Hoover ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hoover drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This has been an exciting period of action! Poe is trying to get back to half guard. Poe is not content to let Hoover control the position. Poe wants to control but Hoover postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoover is looking to take a break and control but Poe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hoover fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hoover sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Poe is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Poe is not content to let Hoover control the position. Hoover tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hoover has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hoover creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Poe can do anything to dispel that myth. Hoover trying to control the position but Poe is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poe sneaks back into half guard. Hoover missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hoover is pressing down on Poe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Poe is holding on for now. Hoover wants to lay and pray for a moment but Poe keeps working. Hoover has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hoover tries to pass the half guard into mount. Poe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Poe preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Hoover thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Poe wants to improve his position but Hoover is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hoover is trying to control. Poe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hoover looks to land a strike but Poe avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Poe can't keep his opponent in guard - Hoover advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hoover is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Hoover seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Poe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hoover wants to pass to mount but Poe is defending the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Poe is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Hoover sitting and controlling from the half guard. Poe blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hoover. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hoover wants to lay and pray for a moment but Poe keeps working. Poe regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hoover. Hoover controls the pace of the fight for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hoover is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Poe is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Poe has escaped and now he's on top! Hoover tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hoover looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hoover is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Poe perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Hoover is looking to improve his position.

Hoover is looking to wear down Poe with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hoover lands with a right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Poe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoover was well out of range. Hoover closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hoover passes to side control. Poe is trying to get back to half guard.

Dominic Hoover overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hoover wants to control the pace but Poe is squirming around nicely. Hoover pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Poe tries to hold on but Hoover pushes him away. Poe throws a hook to the side of Hoover's head but Hoover sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Poe throws a body punch but Hoover moves out of range.
