Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between The Steel Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeremy Pettis will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Steel Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel Penn throws an overhand right that lands on Pettis's shoulder, as Pettis tries to avoid the shot.
A little jabbing left from Pettis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Steel Penn jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pettis looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Pettis feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Steel Penns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Steel Penn throws the left hand but Pettis avoids the punch easily.
A little jabbing left from Pettis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Steel Penn takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Steel Penn lands with a nice body kick.
Steel Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Pettis tries to sprawl out of it but Steel Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pettis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pettis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Some bone on bone action there as Pettis checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Steel Penn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pettis pinned against the cage. Pettis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
It seemed like Pettis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Pettis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Steel Penn is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Pettis's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Steel Penn tries a low kick but Pettis avoids it.
Pettis swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Steel Penn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Pettis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Pettis might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Steel Penn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pettis is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Pettis is not content to let Steel Penn control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steel Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pettis, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jeremy Pettis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Steel Penn moves into range and connects with a jab.
Steel Penn throws a right hand that Pettis ducks under and follows up with a left that Pettis also avoids with ease.
Pettis let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Steel Penn does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Steel Penn.

Pettis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steel Penn connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pettis scrambles back to his feet.

and Pettis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pettis has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Steel Penn tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pettis is able to avoid easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
