PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elliott Francis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jedrzej Czyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Elliott Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jedrzej Czyk!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Francis dives in for a single leg takedown but Czyk sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Czyk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Francis, pushing him back against the cage.

Francis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Czyk in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Francis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Czyk defends well.

Czyk postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Francis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Czyk presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Czyk ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Czyk no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Czyk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Francis is controlling him.

Czyk manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Francis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Czyk smiles and moves away.

Czyk feints and as Francis raises his hands in defense, Czyk changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Francis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Czyk controls the pace.
Francis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Czyk looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Francis wants to get back to his feet but Czyk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Czyk's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Czyk is looking to work some ground and pound but Francis has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Czyk closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Francis did well to prevent Czyk getting side control.

Czyk wants to stand but Francis has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Francis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Francis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Czyk tries to avoid it but Francis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Czyk to the ground. Czyk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Francis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Czyk gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Czyk throws a knee to the head but misses.

Francis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Czyk is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Francis to the mat. Francis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

It looks like Elliott Francis has been cut.

Francis sneaks out the side door and pushes Czyk away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Czyk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Francis's guard.

Czyk stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Francis to get to his feet.

Czyk throws a strike but Francis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Well Czyk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
