Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexei Pestrovic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tymoteusz Piatek! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Piatek. Piatek shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pestrovic is trying to defend but Piatek finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Pestrovic is trying is best to control the position here. Piatek prevents Pestrovic from improving his position. Pestrovic could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Piatek looking for a submission but Pestrovic manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Pestrovic looking for subs off his back but Piatek has passed one foot through into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pestrovic is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Piatek pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piatek is looking for a kimura but Pestrovic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Piatek to get the leverage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pestrovic is trying to control but can't.
Piatek is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Piatek throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pestrovic is trying to maintain the position but Piatek is very close to passing his half guard. Piatek is working for a submission of some sort.
Piatek prevents Pestrovic from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Piatek wants to pass the guard but Pestrovic is defending well. Piatek missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Piatek has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Pestrovic is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Pestrovic avoids a series of strikes thrown by Piatek.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Piatek avoids the attempt from Pestrovic to control. Pestrovic is looking to get to half guard. Piatek is working for a guillotine from mount but Pestrovic frees his head quite easily.
Piatek is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Pestrovic is forced to tap! Great finish!
