Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hakuna Matata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Rampage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis Rampage has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hakuna Matata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Rampage!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matata throws a sloppy head kick and Rampage moves out of range easily.

Rampage gets tackled into the cage by Matata. Matata maintains the clinch.

Rampage manages to break the clinch.
Matata throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rampage slips a jab and a cross from Matata.
A punch lands to the side of Rampage 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Rampage scores with a takedown into Matata's guard.

Rampage drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Matata dives on top into guard.

Matata wanted to stand there but Rampage had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matata stands up and waves to Rampage to follow him.

Matata slaps away a takedown attempt from Rampage, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Rampage manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Matata on his heels. He'll look to pass Matata's guard now, I'm sure.

Rampage wants to control from the top but Matata keeps moving.

Rampage drops back looking for a leg! Matata is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Matata manages to kick Rampage off! Rampage jumps back into Matata's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rampage is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Matata wants to get back to his feet but Rampage is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Rampage counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rampage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Matata has momentary wrist control but Rampage slips an elbow through the middle.
Rampage is pushing down on Matata's leg trying to pass to half guard. Matata is fighting to maintain full guard but Rampage has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rampage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rampage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Hakuna Matata will probably get the nod.

Rampage pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Matata lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Rampage shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Matata is trying to defend but Rampage finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Matata manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Rampage keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Rampage keeps control of Matata as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rampage is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Matata pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Matata is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rampage is controlling him.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hakuna Matata.
I think Matata has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
